“Holding on, yet letting go at the same time”

The heart of the matter:

People often overlook how important companionship is to seniors, particularly for seniors living without a spouse or family in the area. Seniors have a need for companionship. According to a study by the University of California, there is a strong link between loneliness and serious health problems and death in the elderly. Even physically able seniors can feel empty or desolate without social interaction.

“What is a Death Midwife?”

As a death midwife, my role is to educate and empower families to reclaim their rights to care for their own dead. I work as a non-medical practitioner who provides emotional, spiritual, and physical support at an intensely personal and crucial time; guiding someone in the dying process. I assist people in finding meaning through creating a legacy project and planning for how the last days will unfold. Also, I guide and support loved ones as they walk through the early stages of grief.

My purpose is to help people cope with death by recognizing that death is as much a natural and important part of life as birth.
